Collection: Soluble Fertilizers

Soluble fertilizers, also known as water soluble fertilizers (WSFs), are fertilizers that can be dissolved in water and applied directly to plants. They can be applied through drip irrigation or foliar application, which allows plants to absorb nutrients through their leaves and root systems.

Soluble fertilizers can be organic or made from pre-made chemicals. They can be useful for controlling the exact amount of nutrients available to plants, especially in soilless mixes. However, some say that soluble fertilizers release nutrients faster than plants can absorb them, resulting in most of the nutrients being wasted and becoming pollutants.

The maximum solubility of a soluble fertilizer is usually listed on the package label. Solubility refers to the maximum amount of fertilizer that can be dissolved in one gallon of water, and is a property of the mineral salts that make up the fertilizer.
